Girl In Translation
Black No MoreIf Living Color was a book written in 1933, it would be almost this comical.

Before you jump down Ben Carson’s throat for saying the Affordable Care Act is the worst thing that’s happened to America since slavery let’s critically analyze this before you give Dr Webber (c|Grey’s Anatomy) the old heev-ho.
So what’s the peanut buttery center between this Reese’s cup of slavery and the Affordable Care Act that was so much better than a free physical and a pap smear.
Uhhh…well there’s that easily overlooked part between 1864 and 2013 which was filled with over 5000 men and women being lynched not counting those that were not recorded.
Uhh…you have World War I, World II, and World War Z starring Brad Pitt.
Uhh…not allowing women to vote. That ninja, Jim Crow.
Uhh…Watch The Throne, Magna Cara Holy Grail
Uhh…there were those internment camps for any Asian that could be grabbed shortly after Pearl Harbor.
Uhh…Water World starring Kevin Costner.
Uhh…Vietnam, Water Gate, Welfare that does not aid two parent households.
Uhh…Val Kilmer’s mysterious demise from the A-List.
Uhh…Not finding weapons of mass destruction.
So don’t act like your mind has never seen a societal shift in consciousness and likened it to the Holocaust – the mother of all unquestioned atrocities. You know your hyberbolic arse has done that before so Talk To The Gifted Hand Cuz the Face…
I know every time I hear Two Chainz on the radio I think “O that’s slavery.” And that’s not fair. Yes his music may sounds like a cat o’nine tails but that does not hardly equate with being whipped by one or it’s in-home cousin – the extension chord.
Ben Carson’s political career…I dunno. Regionally its fine. Nationally it’s Mohammed Ali on a tight rope.
Benny’s first strike was saying homosexuality is like pedophilia and beastiality. His second strike is saying universal health care is a notch below slavery. One more strike and this simile loving brother will make us change an American phrase from “it doesn’t take a brain surgeon” to “every tom, dick, and brain surgeon in South Jersey can do that.”
In all seriousness. A conservative friend of mine told me that the republican party lacks articulate speakers. When I heard that it made me realize how important it is for public figures to stay on message. My guess is that 99% of Ben Carson’s speech was thoughtful and challenging. But that infamous comparison stepped on whatever headline he could have had. Instead he like many other republicans is becoming synonymous with non-thinking right wing cooks that nobody is proud to say they support. Don’t cheer you probably gay, probably minority, probably socialist liberals. Any party that’s not challenged with rigorous debate cannot protect itself from itself and is its own indomitable enemy.
Peace to all my lovers.
